Established in 1859, Cinnabar Elementary and Charter School District is a single-school district proudly serving students in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade. Originally founded to educate children from the agricultural and ranching communities north of Petaluma, Cinnabar continues its long-standing tradition of providing a welcoming, supportive, and engaging learning environment for students and families.
Cinnabar serves a diverse student population in a close-knit school community where every child is known, valued, and supported. Our dedicated teachers, instructional aides, and specialized support staff work collaboratively to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students. Our comprehensive support services include special education, academic intervention, English Language Development (ELD), school psychology, speech and language services, nursing, counseling, physical education, social-emotional learning, music, and technology integration.
Family and community involvement are essential to our school's success. Cinnabar families actively participate in the School Site Council (SSC), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Team, and English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). Together, we foster a positive school culture that emphasizes strong relationships, student achievement, and a shared commitment to helping every child thrive.
At Cinnabar, students in grades TK–6 benefit from engaging science instruction, hands-on investigations, and opportunities to explore science, technology, and engineering through meaningful learning experiences. Our collaborative learning activities encourage critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Students also have opportunities to participate in robotics, coding, and other innovative learning experiences that inspire curiosity and develop essential skills for the future.
Cinnabar School District is committed to providing students with access to technology that enhances learning and supports academic success. Through our 1:1 student technology program, students have access to Chromebooks and age-appropriate digital learning tools that strengthen literacy, mathematics, research, and technology skills. Our youngest learners also benefit from tablets and interactive educational programs that reinforce foundational reading and math skills. Across all grade levels, technology is thoughtfully integrated into instruction to support personalized learning, build digital literacy, and prepare students for continued academic success.
